William Afton, also known as Springtrap, is a central antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) franchise. His first appearance as Springtrap is in Five Nights at Freddy's 3.
Afton is the co-founder of Fazbear Entertainment and a serial killer responsible for the disappearances and murders of numerous children connected to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
To evade capture, Afton hides inside a springlock Bonnie suit, a prototype animatronic containing dangerous spring-loaded mechanisms. The suit malfunctions, crushing and killing him. His body remains trapped within the Springtrap animatronic.
Driven by vengeful spirit, Afton, as Springtrap, continues to haunt locations connected to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, seeking victims and perpetuating the cycle of violence.
